That’s a four letter word.  But are you really fine?  Often we rush through life with blinders on, disconnected from our inner spark. We don’t know how good we could potentially feel. As a functional medicine expert in burnout and stress, I help patients and health professionals optimize their brain-body balance to bring renewed vitality and fall in love with their life again.

I’m Dr. Lara Salyer, and I help motivated high-performers redesign their life by identifying areas that block flow and strategically plan methods to mitigate fatigue, move through burnout, and emerge as a flourishing, embodied protagonist of their own story. 

Rewind to 2016, when I was shocked to discover myself struggling with burnout 15 years into my career as a rural family medicine physician.  I started painting, drawing and running. This regular dose of blissful  neurochemical flow resulted in improved autonomy, wellbeing, and decreased stress, inspiring me to pursue additional certifications from the Institute for Functional Medicine and Flow Research Collective.

Part “Burnout Doula” and part “Creativity Catalyst,” I work collaboratively with you to structure our sessions and solidify a plan that makes the most sense for your goals.  I use a blend of cognitive-behavioral and solutions-focused coaching along with evidence-based holistic recommendations to teach you how to optimize your dysregulated stress response and achieve ideal brain-body resonance.

You’ll excavate your core values, spot places of self-sabotage, engage your neuroplasticity and learn how to tap into creative flow on demand so you can become the architect of your own well-being.

Born and raised in the Midwest, I met my husband, CJ Smith, in medical school.  We settled in Monroe, Wisconsin to raise our three children. The power of Cheese Days is only made stronger by having my office located on the quaint downtown square.  I enjoy long distance running (awarded Not-Last-Place in the 2016 Chicago Marathon), making messy art (Undefeated Pictionary Champion since 1993), playing clarinet, and geeking out about all things creative.
